Orange Pekoe

Orange Pekoe (OP) is a medium-bodied black tea comprising 8 – 15 mm long less wiry but well-twisted tea leaves. It has the refreshing aroma of high grown teas, and it exhibits a light liquor with a mellow flavour. This tea takes a slightly longer time to brew compared to other teas due to its leafiness. OP is ideal for those who prefer a light delicate tea. Besides, Orange Pekoe makes a great black iced tea with a lemon wedge.

Tea leaves are rolled during the traditional manufacturing process and it gets the appearance of black peppercorns. Once brewed Pekoe Tea has a rich aromatic forest-like scent and the liquor generally has a medium to light liquor and a delicate taste. Pekoe Tea has a very good digestive capacity and good for drinking after meals.

Broken Orange Pekoe (BOP)

Broken Orange Pekoe (BOP) is a black tea comprising smaller leaves and broken segments with an abundance of tips. A common misconception is that whole leaf teas are better than broken leaf teas. As with whole leaf teas, it depends on when the tea is plucked and how many buds or tips there are in the tea. Other factors such as the geography and climate of the tea growing area will also affect the quality. Due to the increased surface area, a broken leaf tea will generally produce a darker more intense brew. Broken leaf teas will also brew quicker than whole leaf tea.
